I think, that this boox can help in this formation because is very clear in explanations and criterials of clinicasl problems and aid to take decisssions. My suggest is in future edition, you should include some chapters about geriatric medicine.

I puchased this book for 50% off, and after reading it, I can say that even at full price, it would have been worth it. Page after page of bright clear reproductions of pulp covers, many almost full-page, with any extra space filled with smaller images. The book is divided into chapters based on subject matter: Westerns, Super Heroes, Sci-Fi, Horror, Gangsters, etc. The text is informative, but minimal - it provides just enough background on each chapter's subject and then lets the art speak for itself. Each cover is accompanied with information on the issue and artist, plus some informative personal commentary from the author. Plenty of top-notch artists are included, such as Wyeth, Baumhofer, etc. Don't buy this for an in-depth analysis of pulp magazines; the star here is definitely the art, and it delivers in spades.

Several themes predominate on the pulp covers. There are westerns, detectives, sports, war & jungle stories, aviation, risqué women & damsels in distress. This is also where some of the best early science fiction art is found.

There is a helpful section of information for collectors and all of the books illustrated are coded for relative value. This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in popular art, Americana or collectibles.

This is THE seminal text on reliability analysis. The author writes with the same crystal clarity he uses to present material at technical conferences. The exercises are carefully graded to lead the diligent reader toward steadily deepening understanding of the material. All diagrams are clear, cogent, carefully annotated, and well keyed to accompanying text. The definition and explanations of cut sets are especially good, allowing the engineer or analyst to economically reduce a complex problem to a set of smaller, more mathematically tractable problems. Also, this work does an excellent job of ramping the reader's knowledge upward from the justifiably assumes prerequisite of basic statistics learned in one introductory class presumably having a calculus prerequisite.

I have to give it to this author, he has a very high assumption of math. If you are not a math wiz but can comprehend Calculus, this book is beyond outstanding. I will give the reader the necessary math methods for achieving you reliability analysis correctly. I spent alot of time going through these calcs and doing the proofs they are with out a dought right on the money. The boo is packed full of wonderful examples and methods. Kudos to the author.

This is definitely the best text on Reliability Engineering that I've seen. Leemis really brings the material to life in a way that I have not seen replicated in the other texts that I have perused. For a first introduction to Reliability, I cannot think of a better text. The reader should have a solid foundation in mathematical statistics, however, before starting on this volume. An adequate resource for building this foundation is Larson and Marx's "Introduction to Mathematical Statistics". Especially make sure you understand the basics of maximum-likelihood, as Leemis emphasizes it in his derivations -- the more advanced stuff you'll learn about in his book, however.

As an aside, I have actually taken Leemis' class, and I can honestly say that I learned more about probability from his lectures and the text than I ever previously thought possible. Again, I highly recommend the text.

I WONDER WHY THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT ON CD-ROM AS WELL? IMEAN THAT'S WHAT THE IS USE NOW.IN THE FURTURE THAT WOULD BE NICE.

This is an excellent dictionary and well suited for family reference. I recommend it highly. At the same time, if you are student looking for a solid Bible dictionary you really do need something that has page headings to let you know immediately where you are to help you find the article more quickly. I would recommend in this case a dictionary like Nelson's Bible Dictionary, or Holman's Bible Dictionary which are both excellent for students. (This comment was somehow omitted from my previous review.)

This is a very beautifully illustrated and interesting dictionary. It is so interesting in fact, that you don't really read it like a dictionary. I deeply appreciate the journey which reading Lawrence Edward's book began for me which continues now almost a year later. The images and concepts outlined in the stories he told became metaphors for my own personal journey of self discovery which I have found most enlightening and personally gratifiying.

I think the path to self awareness is many and varied and often fraught with false starts and distractions. This book helped me recognize some of my own false starts and encouraged me to maintain my own focus and delve within rather than seeking beyond my own experience and truth for answers.

The language is accessible and jargonless which was quite a relief from similar texts on the subject. I also enjoyed the linkages to modern analytical and humanistic psychology as a means for grounding the concepts of energy and kundalini and consciousness in a familiar paradigm for most Westerners like myself.

I look forward his next book.

After seeing the Goddess in his childhood, years later, while sitting in a meditation hall, Dr. Edwards has six consecutive visions of six different forms of the Goddess prior to Kali lighting up his inner space with one cosmic revelation after another, culminating in profound realizations and a message from Kali.

The Goddess then directs him to share her "gift" to him with others by writing it all down and getting it published. He is shown in visions what to write along with commentaries by the Goddess, presented to him as scenes in his mind. Dr. Edwards is just as amazed as his readers will be, and humbled by his cosmic visitations from Kali. Moreover, his surprise and humility at being "chosen" by the Divine give his words a solid ring of truth.

Dr. Edwards extraordinary encounter with the Divine is one of the most impressive and inspiring books I have ever read about Kundalini. Perhaps devotion to the Mother Goddess is the highest path to fully awakening Kundalini with a Mother's Love guiding you safely home.

Mitchell asks the question each and every one of us should ask ourselves at every opportunity, "Why do we treat the obviously vulnerable as different and vulnerability as pathological?" Then he states what should be obvious but is decidedly not: "A society that cares for your child will be a society in which your child cares for others." This book deserves a wide audience.

Larry Mitchell has written a heartfelt and compassionate book that sucessfully debunks the American myth of self-reliance at all costs. If you have ever wondered why we have lost a sense of community, why the rich get richer while others do not, or why we have lost the valuable human connections that make life worth living, you must read his book. Mitchell adeptly shows why we are all vulnerable in some way and why we should care about the less fortunate -- who have had the deck stacked against them by our institutions and our thoughtless devotion to self-reliance. Stacked Deck is a must read. If we pay attention to Mitchell's argument, we might make a more compassionate world.

Some authors, in effort to strengthen their own message, try and impress the reader with intellectual jargon. Instead, it puts many readers to sleep (and the book back on the shelf). Other authors, in effort to attract a broader audience, dilute their message with simple prose and, unfortunately, simplistic ideas. Mitchell's recipe for success is his ability to toe the line without reducing the impact of his message. This book should be read by every person who is not an Ivy League graduate, a country club member, or a BMW owner--and, more importantly, this book should be read by every person who is.

Just magnificent. A piece of art by one of the greatest artist of the asian continent.

Finally, we can have the last of the three parts of the Manga Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. As always, spectacular drawing and the best version of the Donald F. Glut script ever made!

Just when we were enjoying the marvelous comic book of A NEW HOPE, the manga version, Toshiki Kudo strikes back with this spectacular version of the sequel of the trilogy created by George Lucas. The price is a little elevated, but the drawing is excellent. A must-buy book!
